Details

A two-day course primarily based on Shaykh Akram Nadwi’s ‘Mabadi fi Usul al-Hadith wa al-Isnad’. Students will be introduced to the science of Hadith compilation, learning about the various classifications of Hadith including grades of authenticity. The course will also explore noted historic narrators of Hadith and their contribution to Hadith literature.
This course is open to both brothers and sisters as it will be taught in a segregated environment. No prior knowledge is expected from students, individuals of all levels may benefit from this course.

Teacher

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Adam al-Kawthari memorized the Qur’an at the age of nine. He initially studied Arabic language and traditional Islamic sciences at Darul Uloom, Bury, UK, and received authorizations (ijaza), notably from Shaykh Muhammad Yusuf Motala, in various books including the six major books of Hadith. He then travelled to Pakistan and Syria, where he studied and received authorization (ijaza) from Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani, Shaykh Abd al-Razzaq al-Halabi, Shaykh Dr. Abd al-Latif Farfur al-Hasani and others. Sheikh Muhammad has also specialised in the science of legal verdicts (ifta) and is presently a teacher of Islamic sciences at Jamiah Uloom al-Qur’an, Leicester, UK. He has authored a number of books including, Birth Control & Abortion in Islam.

Introduction to the Sciences of Tafseer

Details

A two-day course primarily based on Shaykh Akram nadwi’s ‘Mabadi fi Usul al-Tafseer’. Students will cover the principles of Quranic exegesis studying among other aspects, the various means of revelation experienced by the Prophet (s.a.w.), how the Quran was compiled, the differing dialects of Quranic recitation and the diverse approaches of the books of Tafsir.
This course is open to both brothers and sisters as it will be taught in a segregated environment. No prior knowledge is expected from students, individuals of all levels may benefit from this course.

He is currently the chairman of Cityside Primary Trust and studying LLB with Financial Economics at the University of London.

Details

A two-day course primarily based on Shaykh Akram nadwi’s book Mabadi fi Usul al-Fiqh. This course will cover the origins of Islamic Law, including the principles of deducing Islamic law from the Quran and Sunnah. Students will also learn about the different school of thought; their evolution and justification.
This course is open to both brothers and sisters as it will be taught in a segregated environment. No prior knowledge is expected from students, individuals of all levels may benefit from this course.

Teacher

Ustadh Isma'il Ishaque memorized the Qur’an and completed the Aalimiyyah course (comprising Arabic language, Hadith, Tafsir, Fiqh and Aqidah) at Darul Uloom Bury, UK. He received authorizations (ijaza) in Hadith and other Islamic sciences from the scholars of Darul Uloom, notably Shaykh Muhammad Yusuf Motala. He later studied Islamic Theology at the University of Al Azhar, Egypt, where he specialised in Hadith and obtained a License. He also received authorizations (ijaza) in Hadith from Professor Musa Shaheen La'sheen of al-Azhar, and others. He is currently studying Medicine at King’s College, London.

An introductory course on Arabic rhetoric based on the text, ‘al-Balaghah al-Wadiha.’ Students will cover essential knowledge to facilitate a thorough appreciation of classical Quranic Arabic.
This course is open to both brothers and sisters as it will be taught in a segregated environment. No prior knowledge is expected from students, individuals of all levels may benefit from this course.

Teacher

Shaykh Mohammad Akram Nadwi studied and taught Shari'a at the prestigious Nadwatul 'Ulama institution in India. He has specialised in 'Ilm ul Rijal (the study of the narrators of Hadith) and has received authorization (ijaza) from numerous scholars including Shaykh Abul Hasan Ali Al-Nadwi, Shaykh Abdul-Fattah Abu Ghuddah and Shaykh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi. He has written over 30 books in Arabic, English and Urdu in the fields of hadith, fiqh, Islamic biography, and Arabic grammar. He has recently completed al-Muhaddithat a 40-volume Arabic biographical dictionary on the female scholars of hadith. Dr. Akram Nadwi is currently a research fellow at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, Oxford.
